In plain words: The aurora goby is a fish with a best friend. Its friend is a pistol shrimp. The shrimp digs a burrow in the sand, and they both live in it. The shrimp can hardly see, so the goby keeps watch at the door.

About the Sunburst / Aurora Goby (M)

The aurora goby, also sold as the pinkbar or sunburst goby, is white with wide pink-orange bars and a yellow tail flecked with red. Paired with a pistol shrimp, it shares the shrimp's burrow and stands guard at the entrance, a partnership you can watch up close. It is peaceful and reef safe but shy, needs at least 2 inches of sand, and jumps when startled, so keep the tank covered. This is a medium-size fish; adults reach about 4 inches.
