Checkered butterflyfish are Chaetodon butterflies whose dark-edged scales or chevrons give a netted, checkerboard look on a pale body, usually set off by a warm-colored rear. Like most butterflyfish they are not reef safe and may pick at corals, shrimp and other invertebrates. Give one a large, mature fish-only tank with plenty of rock to graze, and offer small meaty and algae-based meals several times a day.
Hi! Ask us anything about fish, corals, inverts or your order. We’re away from the tanks right now, so leave a message and we’ll answer here and by email.
