About the Blackback Butterfly (M)

This medium-sized blackback butterflyfish shows the species' crisp pattern: yellow fins and snout, slanting black lines and a black saddle near the tail. At night its back turns dark except for two pale patches. Coral is its natural food, so keep it away from corals, and plan on at least 120 gallons for an adult of about 7 inches. Feed mysis and other meaty foods two or three times a day or more.
