About the Toadfish

Toadfish are tough, characterful bottom-dwellers that sit in a cave, wait for food to come close and then gulp it in. They are very hardy and need feeding only every few days, but they eat crabs, shrimp, snails and any fish small enough to swallow, and they dig in the sand. Most grow to about 12 inches; give one a 75-gallon or larger tank with a cave and a sand bed, and handle it with care, because toadfish bite.
