The Stars & Stripes puffer gets its name from the white spots on its back and the dark stripes on its belly. It is hardy and intelligent and often learns to recognize its owner. This is a medium-size fish, but adults can approach 20 inches, so plan for 180 gallons or more. Feed hard-shelled meaty foods to wear down its beak; it eats invertebrates and corals and is not reef safe.
