A big, bold Maori wrasse whose males turn bright orange-red across the chest.
Only 3 left in our tanks
The red-breasted wrasse is a striking predator for large aquariums, brown with white bars and, in mature males, a bright orange-red breast. This is a medium-size fish, but adults can reach about 16 inches, so plan on 150 gallons or more. It leaves corals alone but eats shrimp, crabs, snails, urchins, feather dusters and small fish, and it is territorial, so keep only one. Feed meaty foods and use a tight lid, since it can jump.
