In plain words: The convict tang wears stripes, like the striped suits that prisoners wore long ago. Its body is white or pale yellow, with six thin black bars. One bar runs right through its eye. It lives on warm reefs in the Indian and Pacific Oceans.
About the Convict Surgeonfish (S)
Convict surgeonfish wear six crisp black bars on a white to pale yellow body and spend the day grazing algae from the rock. This is a small fish, but adults grow to about 8 to 10 inches and need a long tank of 125 gallons or more. They are among the calmest tangs, yet bolder Acanthurus may bully them, so choose tangs from other genera as tankmates and offer seaweed daily.
